Phone test with Mac and Cheese

This is a test to see if the love of my life (my iPhone) will allow me to publish posts on the go.

I just finished prepping my macaroni and cheese dish for tomorrows Easter dinner with the fam.


I really want to bake and eat it now. :(

Ok, so I have learned that I am actually a terrible blogger.  I have not posted in over 2 weeks.  Shame, shame on me!  My excuse--the weather, maybe if it wasn't a torrential downpour everyday, and I saw a little sunshine every now and then; I might want to venture out into the concrete jungle.  My new April resolution is to post more frequently.   Hopefully today's beautiful weather is the start of a new sunshiny trend. With that being said, please proceed with the following post without judgment.  I am still feeling the aftershock of a the mess that I ate tonight.  As good as it all was, even my stomach was a bit stretched and feeling a little constricted in my skinny jeans. Grammar, spelling, and punctuation do not count!

So, my fatty fat buddy and I needed a reunion.  We hadn't gotten together since shake shack and waffles.  She just got back from Puerto Rico (so jealous!) and I wanted to take advantage of the nice weather.  OK, I lie I was just hungry.  We decided to head down to 23rd street and check out Trailer Park Lounge.  My mom had mentioned this place to me a while back and I remembered walking by it when I was at FIT.  The place is a riot!  It is super kitschy, decorated with all the crap you would find in Uncle Billy Bob's back yard. There were giant plastic snowmen, old store mannequins, tiki lights, and even a bowling pin lamp.





 MY personal favorite was a picture of Santa Elvis!
So, let's get to the goodstuff...
Gotta love the roll of paper towels on the table!  I don't know about the rest of you, but that's what I use for napkins in my house.  There was no question....i was going for the Chili Dog with a side of tater tots.  Xtina went for the philly cheesesteak.  


I really think the pictures speak for themselves....ummm YUM YUM!  My one mistake was that I didn't order cheese on the chilidog.  But you know you have a good friend when she shares her cheese.  Yes, Xtina did scrape peices of cheese from her sandwich onto my chili dog.  Now, that's love!!!

Feeling very satisfied but not quite ready to go home, we decided we needed dessert.  Sooo...it was off to the Bald Man!  Max Brenner's house of deliciousness. This place is a chocolate lover's dream.  And if you know me, you know I love my chocolate.  The moment you walk through the door you smell chocolate, I have to use all sorts of self control not to dip my head into the huge tubs of churning chocolate.  We decided we need Milkshakes.  Now normally, these monster drinks would be enough to satisfy the sweet craving.  
But noooo....I'm greedy I had to order the "Melting Chocolate Truffle Heart Cake".  This fabulous chocolate cake is filled with your choice of raspberry, milk chocolate, or caramel filling (caramel for me please), served with vanilla bourbon ice cream, strawberries, and a milk chocolate shot.  Wait, a milk chocolate shot?? Yes it is shotglass filled with pure chocolate covered in whip cream.  Basically this was a diabetic's nightmare!



:sigh:....I'm in heaven and I don't ever want to leave.   Until next time, this is skinny fat girl signing out and hopefully not entering a diabetic coma.

I CAN COOK!!.....sort of?

So, my parents are in town this weekend.  And every time I go home, my mom alway makes a good home cooked meal, I felt it was my time to give back.  Now this may come as a shock to many, but I come from a family of healthy eaters.

They love veggies, fresh fruit, and phony meat products.  Wait....PHONY MEAT PRODUCTS??  BLASPHEMY!! Yes, that's right.  My dad is a wannabe vegetarian/vegan.  I say wannabe because he is not so strict all the time.  He loves meat, but he also loves life.  And he believes in a non-meat, non-dairy way of life.  He does on occasion stray off of his veggie path.  He is a sucker for chocolate, and don't leave any turkey legs lying around.  So, in order to kind of make everyone happy.  I decided to make Penne Vodka.  Now, this is a good choice.  You don't need to use meat for Penne Vodka so plus 1 for Dad, but there is still cheesy goodness so plus 1 for me!  And my mom is a happy with anything that contains alcohol so plus 1 for her!  It turned out to be quite a good meal.  Now take this one in readers, because it is not often you will see homecooked meals on this site!


Oh and to top things off, we have girl scout cookies from my neice Samantha!  PLUS 1 FOR EVERYONE!

Favorite of the Day!

Its March, which means the Easter candy has arrived.  So, I thought it would be a good time to pay tribute to PEEPS those cute little birdies that I love so much!! And I do have to admit, I ate 5 of these little buggers today!

skinny FAT girl was experiencing a bit of the spring fever today.  I brought out the spring jacket, wore my cropped jeans, and then chased the ice cream truck down the street.  After about 5 steps, I remembered I don't run anymore, those Track & Field days are long over.  So, instead I text my buddy to find out if she was in the mood for some fatty fun.  And in true hungry friend fashion, she was totally down.

Our stop this evening was Shake Shack.  



An absolutely fabulous little burger joint.  Upon arriving, we knew it was going to be good.  Any place that has a line on a Monday night is golden.  We decided to divide and conquer.  Xtina waited in line to place our order, while I stalked a young couple for their table.  After some evasive maneuvers, I was able to secure a prime seating location.  We waited for our little shack shaker to buzz, bouncing in our seats because we were so hungry!

Finally....it arrived.  And let me tell you, it was worth the wait.














The break-out star in this performance?....the cheese fries!  I mean don't get me wrong, the burger and shake were both amazing.  The burger was cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of oozey cheesy and a warm soft bun.  The shake was delightful.  It had a dark chocolate flavoring, and was just the right consistency.  But the fries....oooohhh the fries.  They were salty, cheesy, potato flavorful presents in my mouth.  

So, honestly what could top such an evening?  A stop at Bed, Bath, and Beyond perhaps?  Ummmm, yes please.  There is something about that store that makes you want to buy random crap that you don't even need.  I had to hold my self back from purchasing an avocado slicer and a GIANT cupcake pan.  So you would think that would be the end of a fantabulous evening, right?.....WRONG!




This my dear friends, would be a Waffle (wafel) truck. Now, normally I don't usually run towards the mobile food carriers.  However, I just recently read about this particular truck and the sweet smell of breakfast/dessert food was hard to resist.  After a thorough explanation of the menu from the friendly Wafel Server, I happily decided on the Liege Wafel with belgian chocolate fudge and strawberries.  













    CUE HEAVENLY MUSIC "HALLELUJAH"




Oh dear sweet waffle, how do I love thee?  Let me count the ways... The strawberries were fresh, the waffle was warm and sweet, and the chocolate was divine.  I suggest everyone to look out for this truck.  On Monday nights, its parked on Broadway between 62th and 63th Street. 

And so begins the FAT adventures....

Here's a little story that must be told...

"Where do you put it all?"  Those are the words I hear constantly.  
I am a twenty-something year old, who works in the fashion industry in Manhattan.  Weight, body image, and diet is the constant topic of discussion.  The majority of my co-workers are either on a diet or trying to lose weight.  They order their Skinny Cinnamon Dolce Latte's, snack on Luna bars, and microwave their Jenny Craig meals.  They take zumba classes and rush out of work to meet with their trainers. All this work to plan meals, count calories, reach their target heart rate.  But at the end of the day, you know what these people all have in common?
HUNGER PAINS!
I absolutely, positively love food.  I love fried, gooey, cheesy, meaty, deliciousness.  I love chocolatey, caramel-drizzled, cream-filled yummy goodness.  I order sweet and sour chicken and fried rice instead of steamed veggies over brown rice.  I get a cheeseburger not a veggie-burger.  I get a taco salad instead of arugula w/ balsamic vinegar.  I order a venti caramel frappaccino with extra whip.


Cookie?....yes, please.
Donut? ...don't mind if do.
Ice Cream?.....hello llllloovah.


 And I do all this without one sliver of guilt.  Why?  Because I am a fat skinny girl.  "Huh?", you say. I am one of those girls that everyone seems to hate.  I can eat whatever I want, whenever I want, and not gain weight. Basically, a fat kid trapped in a skinny body.  I know, I know.  I can hear the sighs and feel the eyes rolling.  I know weight is a touchy subject.  I'm not writing all this to brag.  I just think its important for people to know how I came to start this little blog project of mine.  All those co-workers I was describing earlier, constantly want to know what I eat.  But it was really not that exciting.  I mean it's more exciting than non-fat bran muffins.  But it was monotonous.  Cheeseburger and fries, italian hero, pizza, cheesesteak, meatball hero.  A rotation of the same foods over and over again.  Then I discovered a show called...


I found the man that I would leave my husband for.  This show is genius.  In case you live under a rock, it's about a man who travels around America going to different pig-out spots and performing food challenges.  He eats the spiciest, fattiest, largest food items he can find.  Love at first sight!


I immediately thought to myself, "I can do that!!!" Ok, maybe not exactly.  I mean, I can put it away but there is no way I can compete with Adam Richman.  (dear mr. richman-you are a god).


So, what can I do? Well, I have a bestie who likes to eat, too. Unlike other average young professionals, we don't go to happy hour, we eat.  We always have dinner dates, usually at the same places.  BBQ's (love the frozen margaritas), Outback (Aussie Fries are the bomb), Montezuma (Mexican food in the Bronx).  Again, monotony.  Gosh, I'm boring.


However,  that is all about to change.... (drumroll please)
